We update our contest list 4-5 times a week and post results weekly, its also currently the contest group with the LARGEST list of contests around DA (over 100!) - and that list is always growing with new and interesting contests.
If you enjoy the group feel free to spread the word, our massive list is simply too under advertised - to make the group work we need more interested people!

I've not heard about YCN but I'm definitely doing D&AD - at least the Diesel one interests me. And doing Penguin books as well. Kinda have to do them alongside final year stuff though. Thanks for the heads up!
We used to do Penguin books in previous year but eventually our tutors cancelled that out since you only need to design a book cover for that- not enough effort in that.

Woah seriously?! Well... it depends how much effort you want to put in. From an illustration perspective I plan to put in more work that just playing with type and colour and hopefully fit in some drawing work - so many covers out on the shelves are boring and plain! But yeah I can see design tutors taking that angle... :/ meh
